  • GRIDLOCK Dance prioritizes our values of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility (DEIJA) through a multifaceted approach that is ever evolving. Our commitment to these principles manifests in various aspects of our operations:

Accessibility: Whenever possible, we provide accommodations to make our work accessible, including prioritizing things like accessible venues, accessible seating, captioning, and sign language interpretation.

Anti-Racism: We vow to disrupt all forms of racial discrimination whenever and wherever we may encounter it. We reject the actions and messages of racism and embrace the work of anti-racism.

Community Engagement: We actively engage with the broader community to provide opportunities for all to dance. This often manifests as free improv jams, workshops, and classes for movers of all abilities.

Gender Inclusivity: We respect and celebrate the diverse gender identities within the dance community. We do not hire dancers based on gender identity or expression, and instead prioritize each individual’s artistry.

Intersectionality: We are committed to understanding and addressing the intersecting dimensions of identity, including race, gender, sexuality, and ability.

Open Auditions: We hire dancers solely through free and public auditions. We believe in the importance of removing barriers to entry and creating opportunities for all to showcase their talents.

Transparent Hourly Rates: By providing transparent hourly rates, we ensure that compensation is fair and just, fostering economic equity within the dance community. We are strong advocates for financial transparency and equality.
